United Way of Meriden and Wallingford Presents “Days of Action”
June 20 – 24, 2011

Webster Bank Contact Center

Day of Action, June 2009

On June 21st, United Ways across the country are once again participating in a nationwide “Day of Action.”  With more daylight hours than any other, June 21st is the perfect day to let your actions speak louder than words by showing what it means to LIVE UNITED.

The Volunteer Center of the United Way of Meriden and Wallingford is encouraging local companies and groups to serve the community during our “Days of Action,” which will be held the week of Monday, June 20 – Friday June 24, 2011.   Our focus for this year is once again for local companies to respond to this “call to action" by collecting various toiletries, paper goods and household items to help the families our agencies serve.  If you are interested in getting your coworkers involved, please let me know as soon as possible!

DAY OF ACTION Details:

Ø  Monday June 20th – Friday June 24th

Ø  Companies should individually decide what creative means they want to use to encourage employees to contribute items that will go to local families in need in our community.

Ø  As a part of this “call to action,” we are asking that a volunteer from each company deliver the collected items to a local agency.  We will help direct you to the closest agency with the most need when it comes time to deliver. (Drop-offs to agencies should be scheduled for Thursday or Friday of that week)

The items that our local agencies really need for their families are:

Ø  Diapers (baby and adult)

Ø  Baby wipes

Ø  Depends and Poise Pads

Ø  Laundry detergent

Ø  Toilet paper

Ø  Paper towels

Ø   Tissues
