UNITED WAY DAY OF ACTION IS A CALL TO ACTION:
Show the world how you LIVE UNITED!
On June 21st (the longest day of the year) United Ways across the country are participating in a nationwide “Day of Action.” With more daylight hours than any other, June 21st is the perfect day to let your actions speak louder than words by showing by example what it means to LIVE UNITED.
The Volunteer Center of the United Way of Meriden & Wallingford is encouraging local companies and groups to serve the community during our “Days of Action,” which will be held the week of Monday, June 15 – Friday June 19. Our focus for this year is for local companies to respond to our call to action by collecting various toiletries, paper goods and household items to help the families our agencies serve. If you are interested in getting your coworkers involved, please let me know as soon as possible!
DAY OF ACTION details:
Monday June 15th – Friday June 19th
(Drop-off to agencies needs to be Thursday or Friday of that week)
Companies should individually decide what creative means they want to use to encourage employees to contribute items that will go to local families in need in our community.
As a part of this “call to action,” we are asking that a volunteer from each company transports the collected items to a local agency. We will help direct you to the closest agency with the most need when it comes time to deliver.
The items that our local agencies really need for their families are:
Ø Diapers
Ø Toilet paper
Ø Paper towels
Ø Tissues
Ø Personal care products
· Shampoo & Conditioner
· Deodorant
· Toothpaste
· Toothbrushes (adult & children’s toothbrushes needed!)
· Q-tips, etc.
Ø Healthy cereals (i.e. Cheerios, Quaker Oatmeal Squares, Shredded wheat, Raisin Bran, etc.)
