Our Adopt-A-Family Program matches you with an anonymous Wish List from a family with extreme need right here in our community.  You can be assured that your gifts will put a smile on the faces of a family that is truly in need during this holiday season.  The families are screened through the outreach workers at local agencies in Meriden and Wallingford that we work in conjunction with, and we help coordinate donors (you!) with families who need help.

General Information:

You pick the size of the family you are comfortable adopting, and we will match you with a family (please know that we will not give you a family any larger than you ask for).  Please choose a family size that you are comfortable with adopting.  Sometimes, a larger group from a family or office will come together to adopt a family, and they may pick a large family of 7+ members because there are more people to contribute.  It is truly whatever you feel comfortable with.

We provide you with the family's wish list as a guide for your shopping, and we also ask the parents to include any household items that are needed (i.e. pots, pans, blankets, toiletries, etc.) in case you want to help out in that area.  Clothing is always a priority, as many of these families do not have proper shoes, socks, jackets, etc., for the cold winter months.  We ask that you purchase new clothing and toys only; no used donations will be accepted.  If you would like to donate food for the families, please purchase a gift card to a local grocery store.

We will contact you and coordinate you with a local family's "wish list," and we will put you in contact with the agency that works directly with this family.  We ask that you please contact your family's agency immediately after the match is made. You can go directly to their worker with any questions or for more details about the family!  Most importantly, you should arrange a date with your family’s outreach worker for you to deliver the family's (unwrapped) items to the agency with enough time for the agency to get the items to the family before the holidays.
